Safe services we handle
Most safe calls fall into one of six problems. Tell us which one sounds like yours and we'll explain what's involved before anyone drives out.
Safe opening & lockouts
Lost combination, dead keypad, lockout (penalty) mode, jammed bolts or a lost key. We look at the lock type first and pick the least destructive method that fits. Safe opening details →
Combination changes
New owner, staff change, or a combination too many people know. Mechanical dials are changed with the door open using the lock's change key; electronic locks are reprogrammed and tested several times before the door is closed.
Keypad reset & replacement
Keypads that beep but won't open, show error codes, or stopped responding after a battery change. Sometimes the keypad is the problem and the lock behind it is fine, so replacing only the keypad is an option.
Safe lock repair & upgrades
Worn dials, sticky handles or a failing electronic lock may require repair or replacement. Ask us to check compatibility, parts and service availability before planning a lock upgrade or a change between dial and keypad.
Inherited safes, no combination
For a safe left by a relative, previous homeowner or business tenant, we first need to establish your authority to access it. Provide the safe details so opening and combination-change options can be checked.
Vaults, depositories & file cabinets
Vault and safe-room door locks, depository (drop) safes used by restaurants and retail, fire-resistant file cabinets, and desk or cabinet locks with lost keys.
Types of safes we work on
- Home safes: closet, floor and wall safes, including the small safes bolted to the slab in many South Florida condos and townhomes.
- Gun safes: electronic and dial locks, key overrides, heavy bolt work and relockers.
- Business & depository safes: cash-handling safes in restaurants, retail and offices, including drop-slot models.
- Fire-resistant safes & document chests: key and combination locks on fire safes and fire files.
- Vault doors: locks and combinations on vault and safe-room doors.
- File cabinet & desk locks: opening, rekeying or replacing cabinet locks when keys are missing.
Quick checks before you call
- Keypad dim, slow or silent? Replace the battery first. On many safes it sits behind the keypad cover, outside the door.
- Several wrong codes in a row? Many electronic locks go into a timed lockout. Wait it out without pressing keys, then enter the code once, slowly.
- Code accepted but the handle won't turn? Push the door firmly closed while turning. Bolts can bind against the frame.
- Look for a key override, often hidden behind a logo badge on the keypad.
Still stuck? Don't force the handle or try "master codes" from the internet. That can turn a simple opening into a repair.
Call (754) 328-1958How safe service works
- Call or text (754) 328-1958. Tell us what happened and, if you can, text photos of the keypad or dial, the front of the safe and any brand or model label.
- We explain the likely approach. Lock type and condition drive the method, the time and the cost, so you hear the options before we dispatch.
- Ownership check on site. Photo ID plus something that ties you to the safe or the property. Details are on our safe opening page.
- Least destructive method first. Battery or keypad fix, reset, manipulation or a manufacturer route where it works. If drilling is the realistic option, we say so and why before we start.
- Agree on the next steps. Combination changes, repairs and replacement parts depend on the lock and the work agreed. Confirm parts availability and any return visit before authorizing service.
What affects the cost of safe work
We don't quote a single price for "a safe" because the job changes a lot from one safe to the next. What moves the price:
- Lock type: mechanical dial, electronic keypad, key lock or a combination
- Brand, security level and age of the safe and lock
- Opening method: reset, manipulation or drilling and repair
- Replacement parts: keypad, lock body, dial or cabinet lock
- Where the safe sits: bolted down, in a tight closet or in a floor cutout
Send photos and we'll talk through the likely range of work before you commit.
Safes in South Florida conditions
Humidity and salt air are hard on keypads and battery contacts, especially in garages and in homes near the coast along A1A. A corroded contact can look like a dead lock. Swap the battery once a year, keep the safe off bare concrete if you can, and use a dehumidifier inside gun safes.
Hurricane season sends a lot of passports, deeds and insurance papers into fire safes. A fire-resistant safe isn't automatically water-resistant, so check its rating if flood exposure is a concern. Most electronic safe locks run on batteries, so a power outage alone won't lock you out.

Safe & vault FAQs
Can a locksmith open a safe without the combination?
Opening options depend on the safe, lock and fault. Tell us the brand, lock type and your location so we can check whether we can help and discuss the proposed method and any repair requirements before work starts.
Is there a master code that opens any safe?
No. There's no universal code across brands. Some low-end safes ship with a factory reset procedure, but the code lists posted online are often wrong, and repeated tries can put an electronic lock into a longer lockout.
Can you change my safe's combination?
Contact us with the safe and lock details to check availability. The procedure depends on the lock, whether the door is open and whether you have the required access. Do not send your combination through the quote form.
My keypad stopped working. Do I need a new safe?
Rarely. Start with a fresh battery. If the keypad itself has failed, it can often be replaced by itself. If the lock behind it has failed, the lock is replaced and the safe body stays.
Can you replace a dial lock with an electronic keypad?
A conversion depends on the safe, lock mounting and compatible parts. Send the brand and model so we can check whether this work is available for your safe before recommending a replacement.
Do you work on gun safes and business safes?
Yes: home safes, gun safes, business and depository safes, fire safes, vault door locks, and file cabinet and desk locks.
What do I need to show before you open a safe?
Photo ID and something that connects you to the safe or the property where it sits, such as a purchase receipt, deed or lease, business authorization, or estate paperwork for an inherited safe.
