Everything your doors, windows and mailbox need
Tell us what's going on and we'll tell you whether it's a rekey, a repair or new hardware.
House lockouts
Locked out of your house, townhome or condo? We verify residency, then try damage-free entry first. Details on our 24/7 emergency lockout page.
Rekey after you move in
Previous owners, agents, contractors and neighbors may all have had keys. Rekeying swaps the pins inside your existing locks so every old key stops working. See rekey & lock installation.
Lock change & replacement
Worn, loose, corroded or damaged locks get replaced with new knobs, levers, handlesets or deadbolts. We can key the new hardware to match your other doors.
Deadbolt installation
Front or side door with only a knob lock? We bore the door for a new deadbolt and install it. For a stronger door we can also add a reinforced strike plate fastened with long screws into the framing.
Smart lock & keypad installation
Keypad, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi deadbolts — common examples include products from Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, August and Level. We fit the lock to your door, align the bolt so the motor isn't straining, and check that it locks reliably.
High-security locks
High-security cylinders from makers such as Medeco, Mul-T-Lock and Abloy add pick and drill resistance and restricted keys that can't be copied at a hardware store kiosk. Good for front doors, detached garages and home offices.
Sliding glass door & window locks
Sliders that won't latch, worn handles and mortise hooks, and add-on locks such as foot locks and security bars. We also handle window sash and sliding-window locks.
Mailbox locks
Lost mailbox key or a new tenant? We replace the lock on your individual mailbox or cluster-box compartment. The carrier's master lock on cluster boxes is handled only by the Postal Service.
Landlord & property-manager turnovers
Rekeys between tenants, new keys for new residents, keyed-alike rentals and master key systems for multi-unit buildings. More below.
Also for homeowners: home and gun safe opening, car lockouts in your driveway and car key replacement.
What's different about locks in South Florida homes
Salt air and humidity
In neighborhoods near the ocean and the Intracoastal, from Jupiter to Hollywood, salt air corrodes lock finishes and internal parts faster than inland. Keys start to stick and cylinders get gritty. When replacing exterior hardware, choose a corrosion-resistant finish, and use a dry lock lubricant (graphite or PTFE) rather than heavy oil, which collects grime.
Impact doors and windows
Hurricane-rated doors are common across both counties, and Broward County is inside the Florida Building Code's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Many impact doors use multipoint locks, and the locking hardware is part of the tested door assembly. We service and rekey these with compatible parts. If you want to change the hardware type, check your door's product approval first.
Sliding glass doors everywhere
Pool decks, patios, lanais and condo balconies mean most homes here have at least one slider. Latches and hooks wear out, and tracks shift over time. A slider that doesn't fully latch is one of the easiest ways into a house, so it's worth fixing promptly.
Seasonal homes and older houses
If you spend part of the year up north, rekey when caretakers, cleaners or contractors change, or use a Wi-Fi lock so you can add and delete codes remotely. Older block homes in cities like Lake Worth Beach, Lantana, Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale may still have original hardware, jalousie windows or doors that were never prepped for a deadbolt.
Landlords and property managers
Turnover is the most common time to rekey. A new resident shouldn't be holding the same key as the last one, the last one's friends or the previous cleaning crew. We rekey single-family rentals, condos, townhomes and apartment units, key rentals alike so you carry fewer keys, and set up master key systems for buildings with several units.
Two Florida rules worth knowing. Under section 83.51 of the Florida Statutes, landlords of dwelling units other than single-family homes and duplexes must make reasonable provision for locks and keys unless otherwise agreed in writing. And Miya's Law (2022) requires apartment operators to keep a log of every key issued and returned. A rekey at each turnover keeps that record meaningful. This isn't legal advice, so check your obligations with your attorney or association.
What to have ready
- Photo ID with the address, or proof you own or manage the property (closing documents, tax bill or management agreement)
- Renters: your landlord's OK before changing or rekeying locks
- A count of the doors: front, back, garage entry, sliders
- Photos of the locks, including any brand name on the face or latch
- For a smart lock: the model, your Wi-Fi details and the app installed
- Any association rules on exterior hardware style or finish
What affects the price of home locksmith work
We quote each job after hearing the details instead of listing one price that rarely fits. What moves the number:
- How many locks or cylinders are involved
- Rekeying existing locks versus installing new hardware
- The hardware itself: grade, brand, finish, mechanical or smart
- Door work: boring new holes, fixing a misaligned bolt or strike, reinforcing the frame
- High-security cylinders and restricted keys
- How many keys you want cut

Residential locksmith FAQs
Should I rekey or change my locks after buying a house?
Rekey if the locks work well and you like them. It makes every old key useless while keeping your hardware. Replace them if they're worn, corroded or you want an upgrade such as a smart lock or a higher-grade deadbolt.
Can all the doors in my house use one key?
Usually. If your locks share the same keyway, we can rekey them to one key. Mixed brands, such as Schlage on the front door and Kwikset on the back, may need a cylinder or hardware swap on some doors first.
Can you install a smart lock I already bought?
Tell us the brand and model when you call. We'll check that it fits your door's thickness and existing holes, and whether any door work is needed before we come out.
My sliding glass door won't lock. Can you fix it?
Often, yes. Common causes are a worn latch or hook, a loose handle, or a door that has shifted on its track so the latch misses the keeper. We can repair or replace the lock and add a secondary lock if you want more security.
Can you replace a mailbox lock?
Yes, for standalone locking mailboxes and the individual compartments in cluster boxes. The carrier's master lock on a cluster box belongs to the Postal Service and is handled by them.
Do I need a high-security lock?
Most homes are well served by a good-quality deadbolt that's properly installed with a reinforced strike. High-security locks make sense when key control matters, for example when you want to stop unauthorized copies, or for a detached garage, home office or rental you manage remotely.
Do you work with landlords and property managers?
Yes. We rekey units between tenants, key rentals alike and set up master key systems for multi-unit buildings across Palm Beach and Broward County.
